# Job Description

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will be
responsible for coordinating retail store operations, planning and
implementing strategies, and ensures store schedules and objectives are met by


Reporting To: Store Manager
Supervision Of: Trainee Managers, Stock Controllers, Frontend Supervisors,
Security Supervisor, external Merchandisers
Interacts With: Customers, Employees,


Ensure that store operations are being carried out in accordance with
organizations policies & procedures and Standard Operating Procedures
Approve the expenditure towards local purchases and petty expenses in
accordance with the guidelines from Head office
Delegate the responsibilities to the trainee Managers, stock controllers and
supervisors and make sure that they perform the assigned tasks within the
stipulated time
Ensure that store is opened and closed on time and opening & closing
procedures are followed
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers’ representatives, local
government authorities, etc
Plan shifts, leave and off days of store staff in such a way that store
operations are not affected
Raise recruitment requests, induct and train the store staff for different
Confirm that purchase orders are being placed with warehouse or with direct
delivery suppliers in accordance with the ordering schedules
Verify that stock counts are carried out at regular intervals and appropriate
adjustments are done in the system in accordance with guidelines from HQ
Ensure that all shelves including bakery trolleys and butchery fridges are
fully packed at all times
Ensure that movement of cash is carried out as per the Standard Operating
Ensure that invoices are properly captured and filed and handed over to
Accounts department
Ensure that hygiene and cleanliness is maintained inside the store including
bakery & butchery and store’s premises throughout the operating hours
Ensure that necessary licenses to operate a store are in possession and is
properly displayed


Experience: 3 years
Level: Degree
Qualifications: Diploma/ Degree in Business Administration ir related field
Software: MS Office
Equipment: Job related
Knowledge Of: Retail at a functional and management level; customer service,
operations, administration, team leadership
Skills To: Excellent articulation of reports and feedback to management verbal
and written
Ability To: Planning and organising; Detail orientation; Team orientation;
Customer service orientation
