# Job Description

Lumwana Mine, Solwezi, Zambia.

Reporting to: Mining Training

Lumwana Mining Company Limited LMC, a copper mining company owned by Barrick
Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km
west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital
of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining
approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper
concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year
over a twenty 20 year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut
copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking to recruit highly committed
employees for the position of Simulator Trainer to join Underground Production
teams in other Barrick sites in Africa.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Simulator Trainer, you will be responsible for
training operators in a simulated environment and in the field. Ensuring that
operators understand operational and training SOPs before undertaking the
simulator trainings and recording every activity accordingly

Responsibilities

–>Conduct daily simulator and classroom inspections to ensure a conducive environment for training.
–>Conducting refresher training with the help of the senior Simulator Trainer
–>Maintain a pro-active approach to all aspects of operational productivity and behavioural safety and encourage teamwork within the section according to company values.
–>To teach within the bounds of existing procedures but without restriction to ‘The Training Scheme’.
–>To follow the training process as outlined in the ‘Field Trainers Development Program’
–>To work with trainees’ immediate supervisors, Simulator Trainers, and equipment senior Trainers for excellent employee alignment to business need.
–>Conduct and monitor dover testing for all machine operators and ensure accurate record keeping.
–>Assist to set and monitor other training activities at employee development centre
–>Minimize costs through efficient operations of equipment in the cyber world by providing expertise.
–>Develop continuous improvement operational methods, communicate, and apply them accordingly
–>Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
–>Supervise mine assessors and keep them to speed.

Experience & Qualifications

–>Grade 12 certificate
–>Diploma or related qualification in training and assessment
–>Certificate in Simulator training
–>Computer literate
–>Certificate of competence in machines like trucks, excavators, face shovels, tracked dozers and loader
–>Minimum 3 years of experience in continuous mining operations
–>Ability to interpret instructions according to SOPs and OEM manuals
–>Teamwork and communication skills
